Oh ya and Earth day is a day you help the Earth. Like you plant a tree, recycle, buy organic stuff, it doesnt have to be extreme. the organic stuff is optional. you just give Mother Nature a break for once. i typed it up for you on google and here some sites for you!

  3. I have to disagree with the above answers. Your friend is correct in saying the population of polar bears are increasing. In fact they have increased dramatically over the past 70 years.

Read this… “In the 1950s the polar bear population up north was estimated at 5,000. Today it’s 20- to 25,000, a number that has either held steady over the last 20 years or has risen slightly. In Canada, the manager of wildlife resources for the Nunavut territory of Canada has found that the population there has increased by 25 percent.”

As for earth day: It is “intended to inspire awareness and appreciation of the earths environment”. Go to and click on FAQ. One Q&A is “Why earth day?” followed by “What can I do for earth day?”

Hope I helped and didn’t cost you anything in your debate with your friend :)

  5. Just some facts that could help you answer your question. Polar bears have DDT and other highly toxic chemicals in them due to man made pollution. Raise awareness, educate yourself on what is going on in the earth and how it affects you because believe me it does.

  6. The Polar Bear population isn’t going to increase anytime soon,as they’re still being hunted to extinction.Earth Day is a day devoted to promoting activities that benefits the Earth.
